Jude Barry
Jude Barry founded Catapult Strategies, Inc., in 2001 and serves as chief executive officer. Currently, he also serves as the campaign manager for the Westly For Governor campaign. In the last presidential cycle, Jude served as California Director for former Vermont Governor Howard Dean's campaign. He helped develop the cutting-edge technology strategy that allowed the Dean campaign to recruit and organize an unprecedented 100,000 volunteers in the state. In addition, he managed the political strategy that garnered the most impressive support for the 2004 presidential primary campaign in California: 3 statewide elected officials, over 100 state and local office holders, and the Latino Legislative Caucus. Jude's career began in Washington, DC, in the office of Senator Edward Kennedy where he served as a press aide and deputy political director. He later worked on the Gary Hart presidential campaign and in 1988 Jude served as the national budget director for Richard Gephardt's presidential bid. Prior to founding Catapult Strategies, Inc., Jude was chief of staff to San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales. Until his departure in 2000, he was considered "the main architect and strategic planner" of Gonzales political career and led successful campaigns to expand the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport and extend the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) System to Silicon Valley. He developed San Jose's strategy to maintain its standing as the "Capital of Silicon Valley" and the "Internet Capital of the World." Jude has worked with technology companies in the Silicon Valley and elsewhere: Wave Systems, Progeny Linux Systems, and Smart Paper Networks, and Propel. Jude lives in San Jose with his wife, Jeannette, and two young children, as well as a mischievous puppy. He serves on the boards of the Hakone Society, KTEH public television, Leo McCarthy Center for Public Service and Common Good (University of San Francisco), and the San Jose Cathedral Foundation. In 2002, Jude served on the Bishop's Task Force on Sexual Abuse and authored the much-heralded final report. |
