While Republicans slug it out, Democratic candidate Justin Blake is consolidating Democratic support in his bid for an upset win in the 37th District State Senate seat.

Blake, of Rancho Mirage, has  received the endorsement of both the California Democratic Party and Riverside County Democratic Party Central Committee in the race for the 37th District senate seat.
 “In selecting a candidate for the 37th District, the Democratic leadership has such a hard job,” said Blake. “They must choose the individual who can best represent an incredibly diverse area. I am honored to have received this very important endorsement.”

 The official state and county endorsements come on the heels of Blake being recommended by various Democratic organizations within the district, including: Democrats of the Desert, Democratic Women of the Desert, Palm Springs Democratic Club, Desert Stonewall Democrats, and Sun City Democrats.
 Blake, 56, announced his candidacy for the senate seat on Nov. 5, 2009. He is a member of the Palm Springs Unified School District board of education and founder and artistic director of California Desert Regional Theater, a non-profit repertory group. He also teaches musical theater performance at the Idyllwild School of Performing Arts, and is executive producer of Various Stages Entertainment Group.
