New CBS 5 Poll Shows Plurality Support for Prop 8!
Demonstrating the strength of lying in campaign ads, supporters of Prop 8, an initiative to eliminate marriage rights for gays and lesbians, have taken a five point lead in the latest CBS 5/Survey USA poll. The initiative now stands at 47-42, a 10-point turnaround from 11 days ago, and youth are responsible:
My instincts tell me this is an outlier, and I certainly hope the No on Prop 8 campaign is preparing a rebuttal ad that debunks the absurd notion that churches risk their tax-exempt status if they speak out against marriage equality. Indeed, churches up and down the state have taken strong stands in favor of Prop 8 from the pulpit without consequence, and if we defeat Prop 8, existing law would remain unchanged. Nevertheless, we have every reason to expect a close race, and if this CBS 5 poll provides a sufficient reality check to those who have become complacent expecting Prop 8 to fall, then this is a blessing in disguise. New CBS 5 Poll Shows Plurality Support for Prop 8!
Posted by: Vince Hall on October 07, 2008Survey USA coming out with a new poll is like Alpo coming out with a new dog food. It may look interesting and sound exciting, but you really shouldn't eat it. (Outside of 95814, who stays on the phone for an interactive robocall?) Go back and look at their Prop 73 (47-53 loss) polls to see how well they do on social issues... http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollTrack.aspx?g=5687edb5-8fae-407d-8eaa-ee337fbaa65c
