San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has come out in support of Hillary Clinton, reports the Contra Costa Times. Newsom joins Senator Dianne Feinstein, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez in supporting the New Yorker for president.
Clinton's rival Barack Obama is shoring up a different kind of support. The Buzz in the Sacramento Bee found that Obama's fundraising trip to Sacramento on Wednesday netted him at least $200,000. Surprisingly, Mitt Romney has raised over $250,000 in the area.
College degrees for undocumented immigrants would help the state, argues an editorial in today's San Jose Mercury News. The "California Dream Act (SB 160) by Senator Gil Cedillo, D-Los Angeles, would open availability of Cal Grants to immigrants who have attended a state high school for three years.
