Congressman Berman Gets Backing of Former Gov. Gray Davis

Former Governor Gray Davis is weighing in on the heated LA Congressional race between Congressmen Brad Sherman and Howard Berman, giving his backing to Berman.

Here's the email he's sent out:

Dear Friends –

I’m writing you today to ask you to vote for my friend, Howard Berman, for Congress on November 6th.

I feel very strongly about the importance of sending Howard back to Washington. He is one of the finest elected officials in the Nation with a long record of fighting for the San Fernando Valley. I hope you join me in supporting his reelection.

He is endorsed by both the LA Times and the Daily News. The LA Times calls him "one of the most respected members of the House … An admired leader in foreign affairs, a clear thinker and the rare congressman these days who has friends and admirers in both political parties."

The Daily News says Berman has "accomplished a lot, earning respect not only from fellow Democrats but from Republicans."

This Valley congressional race has been unusually nasty and Howard's opponent has made many ridiculous charges. Believe me when I tell you that Howard Berman is a model for what an ethical and effective public official should be. The LA Times and Daily News clearly agree.

Please remember to mark your ballot for Howard Berman when you cast your vote for Congress.
