Chau Assembly Campaign Fires Back at Republican Millionaire Matt Lin

November 01, 2012 @ 10:48 AM

Assembly Democrat Ed Chau's campaign fired back at his millionaire Republican opponent today, blasting Matthew Lin for distributing misinformation about campaign literature.

"The information in question appears on one public document obtained from the County of Los Angeles that demanded that the Lins pay taxes like the rest of us," said Chau campaign spokesperson Pat Dennis. "If the Lins, who are millionaires with extensive personal and corporate holdings, had obeyed the law and paid their taxes, these documents wouldn't exist. As we have come to learn, the County did not redact Joy Lin's personal information nor did the County identify that the information in question was her personal information  in the first place. When the Lin campaign identified a number on the document as Joy Lin's social security number, we immediately took corrective action to protect her privacy and will continue to do so.

"Sadly, instead of taking steps to keep her information private by contacting the County to redact her information from the tax lien, Matthew Lin and his campaign pushed this in the press for 10 days, publicizing to the whole world the fact that anyone can walk down to Norwalk and gain access to Joy Lin's social security number."

Chau, the Democratic nominee, has been endorsed by outgoing Assemblymember Mike Eng, Congresswoman Judy Chu, and hundreds of community leaders. All have praised his integrity.
