Don Logue, the Sacramento Politician Behind Prop 23, Chickens Out of Sac Press Club Debate

September 09, 2010 @ 3:03 PM

The Associated Press just tweeted that Republican Assemblyman Dan Logue has pulled out of the Sacramento Press Club's planned debate next week, where he was scheduled to shill for Prop 23, the Texas oil companies dirty energy proposition. Logue was slated to debate No on 23 co-chair Tom Steyer without explanation.

Just last week, Logue's hometown newspaper http://www.plumaslakelife.com/news/ab32-98856-marysville-logue-ballot.html reported "Logue added he'd be willing to debate Steyer directly." (He also called Steyer's challenge to debate the CEO of Valero, which has dumped $4 million into Prop 23, "bizarre.").

But apparently the Republican back-bencher who helped draft he measure didn't have the cojones to go through with it.

Can't wait to hear the excuse.
