Reuters Poll: California Voters Aren't Buying Texas-Sized Deception About AB 32, Job Loss

June 30, 2010 @ 11:08 AM

Reuters is out with a new poll today showing that Californians strongly believe our state's landmark clean energy and clean air law is creating jobs and driving investment. Which means they aren't buying the bogus argument by the Texas oil companies behind Prop 23, the dirty energy proposition http://www.camajorityreport.com/www.stopdirtyenergyprop.com.

According to the poll, http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE65S4TY20100629?type=politicsNews, conducted by Ipsos for Reuters, a solid 50 percent of Californians believe that the state's leadership in clean tech "drive(s) investment in green technology and create(s) green jobs" while only 38 percent believe it "will create higher energy costs and will lead to cuts in traditional jobs."

Democrats strongly supported the state's clean energy policy by a 68-21 percent margin, while Independents favor it by a whopping 56-30 percent.

The bottom line: Californians know we can have both a strong economy and clean energy and air. And none of the Texas oil industry paid-for scare tactics and bogus studies are having any impact on that belief.

These results are in line with others about AB 32. Last July, PPIC put support at 66 percent.

Here's the full question:
